Tool Box 5

For tool Box 5 we had to research a few of the latest fashion shows, to analyse and produce a product as a fusion of our design process with the help of the research trips and inspiration from our designer.

I really enjoyed the presentation where we had to analyse a fashion show. The class taught me how to look at a collection with the help of the questions or pointers given. The designer was co-incidentally Indian as well. I could recognise the patterns he had used and the fabrics used as well. There was iconography of Indian Gods, which was easy to point out for me. I felt confident in class answering questions, not to mention this was more of a comfort zone to me than usual. However when we were told to make a design product just before break I was nervous. Surprisingly as class went on and my ideas came together I really loved working on the fusion sneaker.

I chose AZ Factory, their latest fashion show was a tribute to Alber Elbarz. The theme was love and appreciation to him. What stood out to me from the show was how the different designers had their own message to tell the story of Elbarz. I took the iconography of hearts and print outs of his face. The looks I chose from the show represent the colours and the iconography I used in my shoe. The looks also made us understand the fashion show as a whole.

In class I made rough sketches of the different elements I would be using in my shoe so I could go home and put them all together with more time in hand. My thought process was to include the message of love, so I came up with the idea of a cupids arrow. The bow would be the shape of the base and the arrow would come up slanting from the tip of the show to the ankle. To include more of AZ factory in my show I used their signature the tampered front for my speaker instead of the usual design. I used the iconography of Elbarz face as I thought it would go well with the graphics of Shoreditch. Other than that there was a colour palate which was a fusion of the fashion show and my Shoreditch research.

Other than the above mentioned Shoreditch research I used a quote on the wall I found, which would go well with the pop culture and my target age group for the sneaker “I only put this here so you instagram this”. I used a graphical eye that really stood out to me from all the pictures I had taken as well.

Overall I was very happy with the outcome of the class. It started of well and though I hit a few bumps in the middle I was content with my end result.
